Social Study Courses
Palmer offers a variety of Social Study courses, starting from grade 8
Humanity 8
Humanity 8 is a combined study course, developing skills in both English 8 and Humanity 8, as both courses will examine literature like novels and poems, while Humanity 8 is more focused on historical time periods like the middle age and rennaissance.​

​Social Study 9
Social Study 9 will be more focused on Canada, its western civilization from the 17th to 19th century, Students will learn about the history of the country we are currently living in, and how does that history affect us today, in ways of imperialism and colonialism.
This is the textbook used for Social Study 9

Social Study 10
This course will focus on the political state of our country, its economy and also informations about the First Nations governance.​

Social Study 11
Social Study 11 will be more flexible, focusing on recent development and cultural topics, like technological innovation in AI, or problems First Nations face in present day.

Social Study 12 (20th century world history 12)
After Social Study 11, students will have a flexible choice on the next course they wish to take, with the options being 20th Century World History 12, Law 12, BC First People 12, and Psychology 12. 20th century World History 12 will begin talking about the consequence of WWI, and major wars in the 20th century.

Summary
There are several main focuses for all of the social study courses, with the most prominent ones being Historical events, geography and First People, students graduating from Social Study should be expected to have a deep understanding on the history of the world, with our own opinions
