During first interactions with the European and the First People, the European has already asserted dominance, leading to the colonialism (occupying and taking control of another country) of the First People

Aftermath

Due to colonialism, it has led to the dispossession of land for the First People, residential schools that strip away their culture and language, and on-going racism to this day.

Summary

First People is a topic that's always taught in Social Study because of their importance to the historical, geographical, and cultural impacts it had on Canada.
