This article will talk about the significant poets that contributed to the culture of poems.

Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe was one of the most influential English writers, with his significant contribution towards gothic literature, his most famous works include the Tell Tale Heart and The Raven. His use of language to convey melancholic imagery to the readers amplifies the psychological horror of guilt in the Tell Tale Heart and the lament in The Raven. Although his work are often dark and psycholgic, his literature are taught in grade 8-9 in some curriculum.

The Brontë Sisters

The Brontë sisters consists of 3 famous poets, Charlotte Brontë,  Emily Brontë, Anne Brontë. While their success came after their death, their poems are influential to modern literature class, most notable example would be Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, which talks about the destructive love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff. Also taught in grade 8-9

There were actually 6 siblings in the Brontë siblings, Maria and Elizabeth died at childhood while Patric became a painterand writer

Shakespeare

Arguably the most influential and famous poem to have lived, Shakespeare composed numerous plays and poems, the most famous plays being "Hamlet"and "Romeo and Juliet." His most famous poems would be his sonnets, including the previously mentioned "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?" Grade 10 students at Palmer will do analysis on "Romeo and Juliet" while also doing creative activities"

Robert Frost

A four times Pulitzer Prizes winner for Poetry, he is an American poet that writes about rural England life. His most famous works are "The Road Not Taken." That symbolizes the uncertainty and the ambiguity for choices you take in life.

Summary:

There are hundreds of thousands poets in the world that has composed beautiful and meaningful poems, the four example above have their worked immortalized into the poetry culture. These poets have inserted meaning and lessons that could relate to readers, connecting feelings like regret in "The Road not Taken" or grief in "The Raven." All these are useful to the development of literary skills for students; learning compositions and literary devices.
