Biology Courses

Palmer offers a variety of Biology courses, starting from grade 8

Science 8-10

In Science 8, 9 and 10, these courses have broad topics, its cirriculum including biology, chemistry and physics. So even if biology is just a small portion of this course, students will gain a basic understanding of biology for the foundations of future more advanced courses.​

Anatomy and Physiology 12

in Anatomy and Physiology 12, students will learn about the functions of the human biology. Students are reconmmended to have atleast a C+ in life science 11 and chemistry 11. As these courses are closely related to Anatomy and Physiology 12, and students will be significantly benefited from taking those course.

Life Science 11

In Palmer secondary, biology 11 courses are called life science 11 instead. In life science 11, students will gain knowledge on topics like mycology (the study of fungi), botony (the study of plants), and more. Students may also have the opportunity to dissect organisms.

AP Biology

AP Biology is a difficult course equal to the first year of university. Students are required to have taken Anatomy and Physiology 12, and highly reconmmended to have a B or higher in chemistry 11 before taking this course. Student can gain 4 credits if they socre a 4 or higher in AP exam.

Summary

Students that decides to take biology courses in highschool can have a higher chance of enrolling in medical related schools; which allows for medical industry jobs like doctor or nurse.
