First People

In English First People 12, student focuses on the history of First People 12, and we will be talking about First People History in this page.

When did the First Nation and colonist came to Canada?:

The First Nation arrived at Canada over 14,000 years ago from North America. While the colonist (vikings) arrived to Canada at around 1,000 years ago, and the English and French colonist arrived at Canada around 500 years ago.

Activities​

English First People 12 will practice oral tradition and its relationship to their land/place, enhancing student's public speaking abilities. Students are encourage to experiment First Nation literature, appreciating the beauty of stories during lesson

Seven Years War:

The First Nations were crucial to both the British and the French during the seven years war, due to their military alliance. Making First Nation an important aspect of Canadian history.​

Summary

Although Palmer doesn't offer activities like field trip visiting local First Nation to hear from elders. We offer in-class activities reading oral traditions to improve on public speaking. Other than analyzing the culture of the First People, student will also learn the history related to First Nations like the Seven Years War and the origin of First Nations
