Interview with Ms. Chen, a science teacher in Palmer.
What is chemistry about and why teach it?
Chemistry is a very important subject that explores how matters work and much more, students in grade 10 science will have a chemistry unit for Lewis Dot Structure and Balancing Equations. Ms. Chen teaches chemistry because of her passion towards it developed when she wa young.
Lab Safety
Ms. Chen ensures the safety of students by having a sub-unit about lab safety and procedures at the start of the chemistry unit, where students will learn lab procedures, and features to use in case of emergancy.

Positive classroom environment
Ms. Chen ensures a positive classroom environment by encouraging them to support each other, and giving them opportunities for answering questions or doing activities. She will also have a respectful attitude toward parents even in the case of disagreements.
PLT
Ms. Chen heavily encourages students to utilize PLT, for any questions or doubt they have, especially before quizzes and test. PLT and daily check-ins can help struggling students catch up to class
Summary
Ms. Chen keeps a positive and respectful tone when approaching all kind of students, minimizing disputes and always encourages students to reach out to her if they have any questions. While also making the classroom fun by regularly hosting labs and activities, including a personalized space project as the final unit.
